Make a Profit for Your Station
Make a Profit for Your Station
Dear Community Station Manager,
My name’s Ashley, and I run the Online Radio School. I can help your station broadcast quality shows, recruit more volunteers and teach you how to make a profit at the same time. Fusion Radio in Wigan, K2K Radio and Whitechapel AM in London are already on board.
All Radio Presenters Are Fundamentally Selfish
I know, I know. Your station is different. Your presenters love you, and they love your station. Well good for you. I think that’s great! I’m happy for you. Seriously, I am. But here’s a question: Do you know what your radio presenters love even more than you?
I managed a community radio station for eight years, and this is how my conversations with volunteers regularly went.
Station Manager of Awesomeness: “Hoorah! We’re now on air!”
Presenter: “Great! Now, what about my show?”
Station Manager of Awesomeness: “We’ve now got twenty shows on air!”
Presenter: “That’s excellent news! Now, what about my show?”
Station Manager of Awesomeness: “We’ve just hooked up with an excellent local charity. I’m so happy!”
Presenter: “Brilliant news! Can I just ask you about my show?”
The biggest waste of hours for a station is recruiting and training.
The biggest problem with a majority of community stations is broadcasting terrible content.
Here’s a link explaining how I got my presenters to make great shows.
What if I could save you hours in training, increase your recruitment and improve the quality of your shows? Oh, and you can even make a profit too.
Sounds good doesn't it? And it’s simple too. Simply sign up to my station pass.
Here’s what you’ll get
Twenty of your volunteers get access to five hours of high-quality online radio training for one entire year. They'll learn step by step, over 57 lessons how to plan, prepare and present a radio show. By the end of the five-hour course, they’ll be broadcasting quality shows. This saves you time in training and makes your station sound awesome.
Your presenters get access to me, an ex-BBC studio manager and radio trainer of eighteen years. When they’ve got a question about their show, they can ask me and not you. This frees up your time. While your presenters are being trained, you can get on with the business of managing your station.
Your community station becomes an official radio trainer for the local community. When you advertise for volunteers, you can offer them a five-hour, fifty-seven video, radio DJ training course. You can also provide a forty video, three-hour media interviewing course. If you like, you can purchase two passes and offer the local community eight hours of radio training skills. (I can sort you out a deal for that.) People will be queuing up to join your station.
You can make a profit. If you charge a £20 station joining fee (which includes a £50, five-hour online radio DJ training course that they will drool over!), you could make £200. Charge a £12 joining fee, and you break even. You can even buy more passes should you need it. More passes = more profit. If you don’t need any more passes after a year, then simply cancel.
Your presenters get a free show analysis. I listen back to their show and point out what they can do to improve. Again, this saves you time and energy.
So Let’s Recap!
You can offer online training (and save yourself a lot of time and effort.)
You can drastically increase the quality of your shows (making your station sound even better!)
You can recruit more volunteers. Having an army of volunteers is great!
You can make a profit (who doesn’t want that!)
